If you type on Google: reading books during the lockdown, you’ll find out that there’s never been a better time to start doing this. However, that was not the case for me at the beginning. After spending most of my time in front of a screen due to university and work needs, I could not bring myself to spend another minute into anything that would require brain effort, such as literature. My brain cells just refused to cooperate any further (as if they ever cooperated in the first place…). It took a second lockdown and the inability to physically travel anywhere to start THINKIN of the way I used to get lost in books as a child. It is true that nothing can offer a better form of escapism than a book does: The chance to forget about reality and engross yourself in another world.
That’s why NO THINKIN DREAMLINES decided to travel with you on a mission to rediscover the joy of reading books. Escape with us by taking a look at our team’s choices!

Mirketa’s choice: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty

“It has definitely become one of my favorite books, keeping me up way up late as I could not put it down. The characters were so vibrant and believable that they could easily be someone you know. The book masterfully deals with family, marriage, friendship, bullying, and domestic violence, all with a murder and mystery twist. It may seem a lot to take in, but at no stage did I feel overwhelmed or lose focus. A TV mini-series adaptation of the novel was produced by HBO, winning 8 Emmy Awards”
Book Summary:
Three mothers, Jane, Madeline and Celeste appear to have it all; until they find out just how easy it is for one little lie to spiral out of control . . . Single mum Jane has just moved to town. She’s got her little boy in tow – plus a secret she’s been carrying for five years. On the first day of the school run, she meets Madeline –a force to be reckoned with, who remembers everything and forgives no one – and Celeste, the kind of beautiful woman who makes the world stop and stare, but is inexplicably ill at ease. They both take Jane under their wing – while careful to keep their own secrets under wraps. But a minor incident involving the children of all three women rapidly escalates: playground whispers become spiteful rumors until no one can tell the truth from the lies . . .

Eli’s choice: Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

“I am the person that on her first trip to India spent half a day in a second-hand bookstore in Bangalore picking classics. Death on the Nile was one of the 15 I ended up buying… so I am quite biased since I have connected it with my first time traveling out of Europe in the pre-pandemic world. This time though I traveled to the Egyptian landscape thanks to the Queen of Mystery. This is one of Christie's best mysteries, not because of its complexity but due to the characters she creates. No one is who they appear to be on this ship, and they are all trapped together. Also, the new movie adaptation is being released in 2022 with the goddess Gal Gadot playing the leading role so I am quite excited about it”
Book Summary:
The tranquillity of a cruise along the Nile is shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway has been shot through the head. She was young, stylish , beautiful and filthy rich, a girl who had everything - until she lost her life. Hercule Poirot recalls an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: 'I'd like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.' Yet in this exotic setting, nothing is ever quite what it seems...

Pely’s & Eirini’s choice: #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

“To be honest, reading isn’t our cup of tea. But now that we both found ourselves with more spare time, we tried to start small by reading this book a couple of minutes a day. We realized that it truly does make every day that little more enjoyable. We think that this book is perfect if you are a hustler on the rebellious side who wants to learn how to be a #GIRLBOSS.”
Book Summary:
#Girlboss is the sassy part-memoir, part-business biography of Nasty Gal’s Sophia Amoruso, a modern-day fashion entrepreneur who started selling vintage clothing on eBay while working security at an art school in San Francisco.

Dora’s choice: ME AT MY BEST by Katerina Tsemperlidou

(unfortunately i couldnt find an English version of the book)

“This is not a novel, but a self-knowledge diary book. It includes questions and invites you to answer them. It feels like you are interviewing yourself with the aim of discovering and expressing your inner thoughts and desires. The questions are really simple and easy. I’ve been having this “book” for years now. When I was answering each question I made sure to note down the date. I am still going back to this book and answer the same questions, seeing each time how different I was thinkin before and how I am thinkin today. “
What is your choice?

For you #NOTHINKER,
