In recent decades, the state of our planet has changed drastically.

Demographic growth and economic development, next to the rising demand for natural resources, came at a price for the environment.
Fortunately, more and more people become aware of the impact their actions have on the planet and start incorporating greener habits into their lifestyle.
Are you also one of these people or are you ready to become one of us?
Then you should know that sustainable living doesn’t have to be complicated. Taking action to live more sustainably can be easy. It just requires will instead of carelessness and action instead of idleness.
Even the tiniest change is something and that’s already better than nothing. Every little thing we do for the environment has a positive impact, and it matters.
Here are 8 easy tips for sustainable living that you can try to implement into your life like we did and make the difference for our planet. If you realize that you have already been doing most of these things then: Good job girl/boy! Keep going greener like this!
Let’s see how a day in a No Thinker’s sustainable life looks like from morning to night!

1. First things first: Coffee!

Have you ever thought of making your coffee drinking a bit more sustainable? I know that sustainability is not the first thing that comes to mind when you wake up in the morning, but it is true that one of the least eco-friendly and sustainable coffee drinking options is the pod and capsule systems that have become popular in modern kitchens. So what about replacing them with reusable coffee capsules? You can still enjoy your coffee, while saving some money and the environment!

2. Say no to the evil plastic straws.

It’s summer and you can’t say no to a cold coffee or drink. But you can definitely say no to plastic straws.Instead opt for paper straws (I personally don’t like them) or stainless steel straws and make your drink look instantly eco-friendly!

3. Time for groceries: Don’t forget your reusable shopping bag!

Most shopping plastic bags are single-used and then sent to the landfill or end up in the ocean, polluting the environment and endangering animal species. That’s why you should always make sure that you have a reusable bag with you or in the car. I don’t think this is any hassle since most of them are actually quite trendy!

4. Stay hydrated with your reusable water bottle!

Get a stainless steel or metal water bottle and refill it from the tap instead of buying plastic bottles.

5. Sustainable grocery shopping.
The first step is creating a proper shopping plan and buying only what you need in order to minimize waste. Prefer to shop at your local farmers market and opt for products that are seasonally produced. Also cutting back on meat consumption in general is one of the best ways you can reduce your foodprint. Industrial meat production is inhumane for animals, pollutes waterways and soil and is a major contributor to global greenhouse emissions. By cutting back on meat consumption just one day a week, you can reduce your personal impact by 15 percent. And when do you purchase meat, look for responsibly produced meat, ideally from farmers that you know and trust.

Νow you’re back home from groceries, and you got to clean the house…

6. Clean your house with simple natural ingredients.

An easy way to have a more sustainable home is to clean it with non-toxic products. My favorite ones are white vinegar, lemons, baking soda, and castile soap.
They’re multipurpose, cheap, and good for the environment.
When we are using conventional cleaning products, we are polluting water streams by pouring dangerous chemicals down the drain, and most of them are packaged in plastic. They’re also dangerous for human health, and their long-term use might lead to various diseases and health conditions.
It’s been a long day of work and now you’re finally ready for your night-time routine before going to bed…

7. Don’t forget to eco-consciously remove your make-up!

I’m sure that when you take your make-up off at the end of the day, the last thing you’ll be thinking about is what effect your cotton pad or make-up wipe has on the environment. However, most wipes are non-biodegradable and are essentially bad for your skin and the planet. Luckily for us, finding sustainable alternatives has never been easier. There is a wide range of washable reusable cotton pads and muslin cloth wipes. What I personally prefer is to simply double cleanse with an oil balm first that breaks down my make-up and then following with deeper water-based cleanser. No pads needed this way!

8. Last step: Brush your teeth while Zero-Waste!
Replace all your plastic toothbrushes with bamboo ones which are fully biodegradable. If bamboo toothbrushes are not for you, there are toothbrushes made from wood, recycled plastic or even corn starch. It’s also really important to save water when you brush your teeth. So next time don’t leave the tap running!
